Do we atheists need our own "Good Book"?
No- how ridiculous. Atheism is not a religion.

One thing that strikes me...... doesn't this cause some confusion since Intel uses the "Core 2 Duo" name for both the mobile Merom chips and the desktop Conroe chips? Not that most consumers would know the difference anyway, but it seems like people see "Core 2 Duo" in the desktop iMac, and the assumption would be that it would be the same "Core 2 Duo" processor found in other desktops, not the mobile version.

The key point facilitating foreign intervention in Libya is the fact that one of the factions in this civil war invited us to participate, within certain limitations. This is not an invasion, nor is it unilateral action by any party. The entire affair is predicated on 1) The Libyan opposition's call for help and 2) A UN resolution sanctioning the use of force in Libya, with support froom the Arab league (and in this case NATO as well). The actions retain legitimacy so long as this broad coalition can be maintained. Obama has never suggested that the US should or would be involved except as part of a coalition.
Finally, it is clear that Obama is flouting neither the constitution nor congress by these actions. Any claim to the contrary is either misinformed or disingenuous. That isn't to say I am enthusiastic about the affair, or that I complately agree with the president's war powers as they currently stand.
But Republicans are trying hard to get maximum political mileage out of their criticisms, with the result that they are overstepping the mark.
I agree.
I'm not surprised. Every administration grabs more and more power. I get depressed just seeing how everyone takes it as the status quo and defends it. The Constitution was set up almost as if to stop one person from being able to take up to war on a whim. Well, if Obama has that right, then George Bush III, or whoever will push the limits of his powers even further. I guess that's the power of precedence. If you look at the Constitution, it vests in the Congress the exclusive power to declare war. Things just have a way of changing. I thought Bush was bad enough with Iraq. Now Obama's actions are even worse than Bush's. Obama didn't even put up the charade of making a case.
Looking at the history, Congress has often taken a backseat to presidential authority on these matters going back as far as Apache wars (1840-1886). Moreover, even in the modern age after the War Powers Act, four administrators have invaded five countries without express Congressional approvalthe Iraq AMF being an abdication rather than an express declaration of war.
Reagan invaded Grenada; Bush invaded Panama, Iraq, and Somalia; and Clinton bombed the Serbians.
Moreover, the Korean war also went without an express Congressional approval, rather it operated under UNSCR order. Vietnam was operated under a manner similar to the Iraq War, without an express declaration of war, but with authorization by Congress.
Rather than looking at it as a power-grab, you should instead evaluate whether or not the use of force in the above instances fits within the paradigm of Libya. I think it does.
The specific application of force by US warplanes under UN auspices, with request by the rebels and the Arab League should give the operation any legal cover it should need in both International and US law. Moreover, since NATO is also involved, our treaty obligations require us to act as well.

If people shelled out $1000+ for tickets to WWDC, you can bet that unless they are obscenely rich, they're there for the actual conference.
Definitely. These people are here for the conference and workshops, not some 30 minute media event. :)

But Apple's server is getting hammered right now... I got through to print out the affected serial numbers, then powered down my AlBook, just to be safe, popped out the battery to see if I had a lucky number, and now that I know I do, I can't get back onto the site.
Oh well. I'll try again later.
One thing I wonder about is what the consequences of keeping the 'dangerous' battery as a back-up would be... I'm not really worried about it exploding, but will the Apple police come after me for not returning the old battery once they ship me a new one? Obviously, it would be my own fault if my laptop exploded when using the old battery, but I'm willing to take that risk.
Cheers
Interesting question... You need to prove in some way you indeed had that defective battery

I somehow doubt its true, but its a nice story.
When Ive returned a product, they have never asked for my name or address, and if I didnt give them my email address, there is no way they could contact me.
it depends. If he ordered online, he shipped it back and they'd already have that info as you have to pay to ship it back yourself.

Notice the phone besides the ipod and itunes? This page is about podcasts and what is a phone doing there alongside ipod and itunes? Does this spell something
about what we all wanted from apple: the iphone? Just my 2 cents. Leopard rox!
What kind of phone is that? Just a mockup?

I must say that Apple must have a lot of surplus in MBs. The MB I bought 4 days ago at the Christiana Mall Apple Store was made a month ago in China.

Here's one more. Having grown up there, I'm quite familiar with the place as well. I should see it as a challenge but the familiarity makes it a difficult place for me to photograph.

Why can't I use the alternate views when I'm just playing the music off of my iPod? I never ever use the library because my iPod is always plugged in (and usually I just drag stuff from Finder into my iPod, cutting out the middleman of the Library). What a disappointment!

All the stores (Walmart,Target, Best Buy) in Minot ND have Good stock of iPad 2's 3+ of each model in most cases and it has been that way for a week or 2 now.
Here in the DC area, availability has been come and go...
Saw a 16GB wifi yesterday before we headed out at Target, a few hours later... gone...
Later that night another popped up at the same Target... was too late for us to go over... not that my better half was willing to jump for it.
Was "schooled" yet again... When the iPad 2 was close to being announced; I mentioned to a group of friends that I might sell my better half my iPad - I was "taught" that as this point there is NO SELLING of old "tech".
The next lesson was over the iPad 2; they are getting to be true Apple fans.... after our getting dual MBA's together (me the 13 inch, them the 10") they want the joy of opening a new box. LOL
Hoping that they might be happy if I upgrade - though they seem set on just the wow factor of a new Apple product. I have created a monster I think. LOL

This would be a huge announcement if it comes in the next week or two. What a great way to get everyone talking about the iPod during the holiday shopping season.
The Beatles albums will sell... but more importantly, they will sell iPods.

It looks like Apple got sick of the scratch complaints and went back to the Mini design. Odd that Apple would take a step back on the design front. Of course I always thought the Nanos were boring anyway, so maybe now this will give me an incentive to get one.
And let the "I have to pay how much extra for black" complaints begin...
At least you get 8GB instead of four. You don't pay that extra just for the color. The 50$ difference for that extra 4GB capacity is reasonable compared to the 200$ for 80GB instead of 60GB on the Macbook especially since you can upgrade the white macbook to 80GB for 50$. So the Macbook is actually 150$ for the color while the nano is 50$ for the color and the capacity.

Question for everyone.
I was playing with itunes 7, and I realized that if i hit the yellow minimize button (with scale effect set) it minimizes into the dock like normal, but when i try to bring it back from the dock it does nothing for a second and then it just appears. I don't know if the way i wrote that makes sense, but give it a try and see if it works for you.

All good points. Let's leave it as different people in different circumstances. For the record, it's not right for anyone to pirate software. However, there are some people, in some situations, that feel that doing the right thing at the time isn't always the best thing. Definitely no hard feelings - just discussion.
Good discussion I might add. I agree that everyone is going to do what they feel at times. I also see that many of the older generation may have adopted this self-entitlement that the younger generation has.
If one can't afford something, you just won't have it, or have to get it through other means. If those means are illegal, then one will have to deal with the consequences of his/her actions.

I'm not sure if my macbook's shutdown apply to the ones being discussed, but I suppose that's my question. I received my macbook in early september, and within a week it started to freeze the screen intermittently, and after a few days became more and more frequent. BUT THEN it started giving me kernel panics often. Both issues built up until I was having to shut down my computer 7+ times in a day. These were all random occurrences with no links to running certain programs, etc. I sent it in to AppleCare and they replaced the HD (after I had already wiped it, reinstalled, and the problem started again). After a couple weeks of getting my serviced macbook back, the problem has started again from the start, starting slow and then happening 7+ times in a day. AppleCare has told me that there is nothing they can do until the problem becomes increasingly worse, to the point that they can reproduce the problem easily. This is very upsetting, since with the very consistent progression of these kernel panics (and freezes) will land right around my midterms....ANYONE have ANY suggestions here? I don't even know if this is in relation to the random shutdowns you're talking about... But I'm desperate here.
Call Apple consumer relations. I'm not sure of the exact phone number but I'm sure someone here has it handy ;) That kind of service is simply not acceptible!
