I doubt it. While multitouch is practical for handheld devices, it isn't for desktop computers. The idea just isn't ergonomically sound, and doesn't seem like the kind of thing Apple would do. iOS is pretty good for what it isa simple, stripped-down interface that allows people to interact with handheld devices. It's not a replacement for Mac OS X, Windows, Linux distributions, or other desktop operating systems, and it would be foolhardy for Apple to conflate the two.
I know that I personally would be pretty annoyed if Apple decided to make all its operating systems identical to iOSI think there's a time and a place for multitouch, and a time and a place for desktop operating systems. God forbid iOS and Mac OS X merge.

the zune isn't out yet...
And just like Vista, who the hell knows when thats gonna be?
Zuning (or whatever the hell it is) is a whole load of nonsense. Only about 97.1% of all hot chicks have no friggin clue how to do anything on their iPods other than play music (calenders, contacts, equaliser). You expect that blonde sitting across from you at the airport to know Zuning? Well she's the one who routinely clicks on "U R hte 1th vistir!! U won a PINK Ipod Nano!!! CLICK HERE" links...
HA! Good luck

I don't mind the GMA all that much. If you don't do gaming it is pleanty powerful enough. I gave up on gaming after giving up on WoW in favor of FF XII. It is pretty pathetic that Apple still even sells a computer with a combo drive tho.... that really should be standard even in the $1099 model these days.

No, You can run OS X on non Macs but not legally under the EULA because currently Apple only sells OS X as an OEM with it's hardware or as an upgrade for systems that already come with a Mac OS.
So what. You can buy an upgrade package of winXP and install it on any computer well over 5 years old that had win98 installed on it. You didn't need to install WinMe, Win NT, or Win2000.
You are legally only allowed to install the stand alone OS X 10.4 software on systems that originally came with the Mac OS. It's an upgrade.
Yes, the point is that Apple is trying to prevent people from running OS X on non-Mac computers. End of story.

My upgrade went through without a hitch. They still make me a little nervous though. If it weren't for the battery life issue I might have skipped it.

Well it is hidden and it is different. I guarantee you that Dell doesn't pay the same price you do when they purchase a resale license for Vista from MS.
Also OSX is included with every Mac but it is the same situation. Apple has to mark up the hardware by some increment for the cost of the OS. I have no idea what Apple's internal pricing is for OS X but it has some value.
It has value, but Apple doesn't buy OSX from itself. The point being, you get OSX when you buy a Mac, just as you get Windows when you buy an OEM PC. Some people seem to be finding a virtue in the latter but not the former, and a problem the fact that Apple has managed to significantly improve the OS five time in same span of years when Microsoft has managed it only once.

My mom got her iphone last year. She loves it so much she's been totally into apple stuff (bought herself an ipod touch when it came out - don't ask me when she already has an iphone - and even bought me the new nano).
She says she's probably going to buy a Mac next time (and she used to snub the mac when I was a kid).I beleive this is how it started for a lot of current apple customers. For me it started with the iPhone in 2007. After that I have been hooked; iMacs, MBP's, iPhones, iPods, and iPads. I've even got my family buying all apple products. They see what great expierience I'm having and they want in. All it takes is one good expeirience. Then starts a chain reaction, then starts growth.

Due to the high bandwidth requirement, it seems Apple needs to negotiate deals with individual carriers to allow such a system to take place.
Great. This means iPhone in the US will probably be carrier-locked forEVER. :( As much as I like OTA updates, I rather have iPhones to be independent from the US carriers first.

I'm just glad they are not trying to run this on the 3G. I can barely keep the phone running as it is. I wish they would come out with a throwback OS for the older phones. Something to stop the constant freezing.
Just a few more months, then maybe an Iphone 5 takes away my pain. :D

and yet another from last weekend's trip to Loreto. The evening sun falls fast behind the mountains to the west, but the sunset glow permeates the Gulf and the islands for quite a while. A long exposure seemed the best way to capture it.

Take a look at this comparison chart.

Why dosn't the ipod connect to the Xbox marketplace? :p
and whats a "unique online tag"?
also look @ the official site:
https://www.comingzune.com/
Strange thing making beeping noises. that 'cool'.
those sites are all run by MS.
the screen? same res as the iPod, so it will look crappy as the pixels will be stretched to fit the screen.

Palm and Android both allow this if I recall.
Yet still both platforms aren't nearly as good as the iPhone in general terms. As far as their application distribution, not nearly as good either. Just search the web for all the hate that people give Android Market.

I think you'd better use one of the Galaxy Tab, preferably while right next to an iPad, before you freely recommend the Galaxy Tab as a replacement.
I've tried a Galaxy Tab 7" and really liked the smaller form factor... but just for playing games. For surfing and email, I'd find 7" a little too small, but a 7" tablet is large enough to provide details and ease of control, but small enough to comfortably fit in your hands.
I didn't try it out long enough to really put it through its paces or to develop an opinion of how the OS fits together, but I had a really nice 5 minute experience with it.
BTW, I own an iPad and I'm happy with it, but I do admire the build quality of a lot of the tablets coming out. Everyone who's in the game seems to be putting out something that actually feels like a solid piece of hardware instead of the cheap feeling laptops that they usually produce.

It's pretty cool that it's selling so well. I mean it's gonna die down... a lot... once Biebus decides to release his next musical masterpiece, but nonetheless very cool.

This is a good example of why a tabletop iMac just won't work. The "touching plane" is probably a foot off the surface of the table/desk upon which the computer sits. Which means if your current desk is at a good and proper height for your chair, you're either going to have to sit a foot higher or lower your desk a foot to keep that optimum reach. Doing either of these means your desk is now a foot too low. If you have a pad of paper there, or a cup of coffee, anything- it's going to be a nightmare to keep getting it.
This may work if you built a special table for it and used it standing up, like a kiosk. But then it would only really be useful for goofing off briefly, and not doing anything serious. Who is going to stand for several hours continuously to use the computer?
Touchscreen iMac to me really just sounds like spec-lust and not a practical reality.
An ergonomic nightmare. My body hurts just thinking about it.
