Just on a positive note of contribution thread and efforts, I just wanted to raise a voice whether we have put enough effort in reaching and notifying members about contribution and retrogression awareness. Not from any side, I see IV's efforts are less but question still arise is "Have we put enough effort in reaching to members about contribution?" Pardon me if I am being too pushy on our contribution initiative. But as I understand to sell an idea, we need to be real pushy. Please post any idea which require volunteer work to reach the members and ask them contribute. I am open to work on it.

Hi,
Appreciate your work for IV and thanks for starting the recurring payments. I realize that IV needs funds now. Can you start another thread and mention a goal amount required in the next 1 week. For example, if you think IV needs 10K in the next week, start a thread with that heading. Whoever is willing, will make additional one time contributions apart from their recurring contributions.

Would like to post my experience at the point of entry recently.
Just got back from an India vacation trip and entered thru SEA airport. Am still on a H1B(8 years running) and was a bit concerned about the posts saying that H1B are being questioned at the POE. In fact, before leaving I got a chance to speak to someone who runs a small consulting firm and his advice was to cancel my trip and avoid any Interntional travel.
But I went anyways went ahead since I had the confidence/hope due to working for a huge American organization; a name which will anyone will recognize.
I have a AP as well and was prepared to use it if faced with issues on re-entering with H1.
To my pleasant surprise, the immigration process took less than 2 mts, the fastest in my personal experience ever. Just 2 questions were asked by the officer who was very polite and friendly -- where do I work and for how long. Thats it.
Will conclude that if one if you work for a fairly reputable/well known orgn, then travelling on H1B should not be an issue.

Unfortunately I don't have answers to any of your questions. Since you have a competent and friendly attorney, you might want to ask them about self employment.
If you port to self employment using AC-21, maybe you could send that as documentation to the USCIS. Also, in such a case, how does one show that one is getting paid? There is no payroll for the self employed, as far as I understand, so do you have to show some other form of income? like revenue generated by your company or something like that?

Man. I laughed bcos u really made me laugh and I thank you for that.. especially after the recent omnibus fiasco...u know what I am saying..:D
any way .. my thinking is that since you have already gone thru other earlier stages and they check things at that shatte also so ..at yr 485 stage..you shud be good..so relax and njoy donot worry and also even if you worry...nothing is going to change so relax and make your family also relax as your tension will pass on to them as well...
Just njoy and be happy as I have realised being happy wards off many unwanted things which we never know might have come our way due to being depresssed...

EB2 I/C won't be current in the next 4-5 Years, the EB2 I/C demand till date (Today�s Date) is in the 100K - 120K Range. The EB2I/C demand till Jul/Aug 2007 is easily in the 40-45K Range so it will require a very over optimistic scenario to clear by Sep 2011. EB3 ROW will reach end of 2006 by FY 2011. So there is a very long way to go. All the movement is under many assumptions most important being the economy and unemployment, anytime this changes all spillover will collapse and there will really be no difference between EB2 I/C and EB3 I/C.
One of the main things that could help us to make a correct guess is number of approved and pending I-140s per country per year of priority.

This was a great effort by a few members and we were able to see a rise in membership and will see better search engine rankings due to this effort. Before retrogression started in "October 2005 Bulletin, Nov 2005 effective", there are quite a few people who applied for I-485 and had PD upto sept 2004. Those cases are approved. I know couple of cases myself.
I think I was current then and I missed out on that date since I was stuck in backlog elimination centre. you could be right.
