Lets not forget the lesson learned from the last DC rally. We came to a conclusion that unless we strengthen our local state chapters, we won't be successful with these type of rallies. Nothing much has been done to activate the local state chapters. Most of them are as inactive as they were in the past.

If your case is closed, you are at risk of losing this labor. Quickly get your lawyer to try and find out why it is closed and see if you can get it reopened.

Will the IRS really track if we have an overseas account in India with balance over 10k if we don't report it to them? I currently do not have over 10k but planning to add more to that account this year.
They can track it if the account is in a US bank (for e.g. Citigroup). In fact US banks will auto-report your information to IRS. It can not be tracked if the account is in an Indian bank (for e.g SBI).

This morning, at around 09:13 AM PT, I received a couple of text alerts on my Mobile saying the status of our AP petitions had changed !!! With prayer on my mind, I logged onto USCIS website and was happy to notice that both our petitions had changed from 'Initial Review' to 'Document Production or Oath Ceremony'.
I am aware that, we aren't yet out of the trenches yet as anything might happen until the time we actually have the AP document on Hand...But I am believer and I hope for the best and I guess, the major hurdles(approval) have been crossed...
At least, Now I do not have to cancel my flight tickets scheduled for November 27th !!! :)
Here is the complete timeline.
Date the AP Renewal application sent from my Attorney's office: 10/20
Date received at USCIS, Nebraska: 10/21
USCIS Notice Date: 10/21
USCIS AP Renewal approval Date: 11/16
Total Time USCIS took to arrive at the decision: 18 Business days.
I am sure there are a couple of other folks who are waiting on AP for their trips...Good Luck to them...

I am in a helpless situation...My AP is still not approved, but I have only 4 days left for my travel.
I am trying to talk to "real person" at USCIS, but it would not give me any option to do so. The only option I did not pick is "report a problem with case". I tried all other options.
It looks like I will have to cancel my trip. Even if they approve today, I may still not make it as it have to come in the mail....I would like to give one last try by talking to Immigration Officer.
Those who called USCIS, can you please tell me how you contacted?

I have to disagree with this. Once I-485 is filed, after six months, the employer can not do any harm to the GC application. Then AC-21 portability kicks in, and employee has a bit of freedom and security. If the current provision to get 3-year EAD comes into picture, even better for folks on EAD/AP. People can start their own businesses, or work on other things while on EAD. Spouses get to work also with EAD.
After I-485 is filed and 6 months have passed, I can change jobs. But will I have to go through I-140 again? Also, can I retain the old PD?
I thought you could file for a new I-485 only if your PD is current. My PD is not current. Can I still change jobs and file for a new I-485?

Not sure if this is answered before. I have NRE Account Interest that is currently not TDS. Like Citibank my bank doesn’t send 1099.
as a "resident alien / H1B " From a legal point of view (not the amount of tax point of view)
Is it better to Pay taxes in India and get credit in US.

I think you should not take this lightly. having 2 years of I-94 can give you issues with Driver's license and other stuff. You can go to your nearest airport, I assume it is EWR. Go to TSA office and explain them your issue. They would cancel your present I-94 and issue you a new one. Something very similar happened to my co-worker and he got it corrected from nearest airport TSA (Transportation Security Administration) office.
Like I said before, get it fixed as soon as possible.
Or you can even go to the local CBP Post and have them corrected the I-94. You can find the locations on cbp.gov

My friend came in on last Saturday and he did not have any issues at the POE (Newark).
He didn't see anybody being questioned or bad mouthed by the IOs'. According to him, his experience at the POE was no different from his previous entries.

Rightly said Devils_Advocate !!, one more thing is many Republicans support CIR too but still we dont have 60 votes to pass this measure.
Unfortunately, This measure is bound to fail when unemployment is 10% and politicians dont want to anger their base in an election year.
Hate to be the party pooper, but its better to see the reality than be lost in the illusion. The facts:
We a have bitterly and an acrimoniously divided Congress
The democrats are NOT together on this one i.e blue dogs, conservative Dems etc.
We have game changing mid terms coming in.
Democrats DONT have super majority in the Senate any more.
And MOST of all we have a president who has PUBLICLY said that this bill will not pass this year due to the lack of political clout.
This is just a ploy to rally up the hispanic votes by Reid, don't pin too much/any hopes on this, the writing on the wall is unfortunately very clear, not worth the heart break. :(
