1. EAD holder (that means I-485 was filed)
2. Previous H1 (working) now H4 (not working)
3. Previous F1 (student) undergrad or grad -> used cpt or opt to work -> now H4 holder
4. Previous L2 now H4 (L2s can get EAD, thereby SSN)
That basically leaves people whose spouses came directly on H4 in the last few months and/or people who did not apply for 485 in july.

I agree. In my assessment efforts coming for the Employment Base applicants like us has minimal weight, if any. I would say that 98% of all lobbying effort and serious push for skilled immigration related bills come from the H1B sponsors, and that's what employers care about.
That said, I think it is not realistic expect that we ever see a bill separated from the H1B increases. There is simply no business case for it !
We have to accept the reality that H1B and EB Green Card are two side of one coin and cannot be separated. As such Business community is benefited by H1B only, eventhough they are pushing H1B/EB together. Business lobby is much much more powerful than 400K EB applicant. Why lawmakers will hear a very small community like us? Only business community can make pressure to lawmakers to prioritize H1B/EB issue through SKIL.
I strongly believe that the recent push by business community (200 + 900 industry, hospital, and University), Aila, and IV will make some results in coming weeks.
Deviding interests will kill the positive current push. If we are not convince for increasing H1B, How come we expect 300 million American should convince for increasing Green Card quota !!

Logically you are correct. But this is different from reality and you know this from lack of interest inspite of hundreds of regular visitors.

If the person is already visiting and not contributing do you think you can convince them...? You cannot wakeup a person who is just pretending. There are lots of people coming here to post their issues and get answer. But don�t want to take part in anything until it�s affecting them or just have junk in their mind and call it as principle.
They find 100 lame excuses for not participating but could not even find one reason to participate. You are right if the person is not aware of IV�but what about people who are aware but wants others to work for their issues.

Just contact a CPA. You will get the rebate if you file jointly and make less than 150K per year jointly. Plus $300 per kid. This rebate has nothing to do with having paid taxes or not....it has all to do with having more money in hand to spend it and stimulate the economy.

Seems like a great day for misery, given the Oct visa bulletin.
Bold no. But When I cam here in 1998 I weighted 118lbs now I weight 253lbs!!! Mostly Beer of course. Saving? 65K in Credit Card Debt. PM me if you want to see me before/after picture! :)

With all due respect, I urge members to discuss more about how we can get our provisions included in this new border security bill that house leadership is talking about. Given the time limitation (about 3 weeks) and urgency of the situation, it is very critical that we don't lose focus otherwise our fate will also be uncertain like the illegal folks for foreseeable future.
The fact that there is not as much opposition to legal immigration and republicans want to pass some kind of bill to show that they aren't a do-nothing congress and are actually working to keep this country safe, if we manage to get our provisions in this security bill then it is very likely that our measures will not only survive but make it in to law before election. As far as I can see, this is our biggest opportunity to date and to not use it appropriately will be very regrettable later.

I contacted Houston consulate by email and got a reply that with AP, airport transit visa is not required. I also got a call from the Houston consulate and was assured that airport transit visa is not required.

can anyone put some insight into my case. My spouse is in India for next 2 months and need to attend visa consulate to comeback to US.
Any similar cases? any insight as to when my labor can get certified ?
My labor just(06/16) moved to "IN PROCESS" from "DATA REVIEW". All my peers got their labor approved in the last 2-3 months & are rocking for 485.

For the people who wants to know what happened at Medical examination then here is my story.
Today me and my wife went to Concentra Medical center at Milwaukee, WI.
They didnt look at our ID but only asked for I-94. We gave our 797 form for current status check and I-94 both. Later Nurse took us to check our 1) Blood pressure 2) Pulse rate 3) did Skint test 4) took blood for HIV/STD testing. Nurse took around 15 minutes for each person.
Later Civil Sergeon came and started checking my body start with 1) hands 2) told me to jump for once 3) Raise each leg one at a time 4) Checked my Eyes, Ear, nose 5) Checked my heart beats and lungs from outside. Overall Civil Surgeon took 20 minutes for each of us.
Since I did not had any record of my earlier vaccination Nurse/Dr. Reccomend me to take Tetanus, MMR and Vaicella. For my wife Nurse recommend to take both Tetanus and MMR only.
Overall for Medical Examination it cost me $160 per person. Now I have option to take this vaccination at same center for Tetanus-$27, MMR-$67 and Varicell -$100.00 or I can call up County health center to get it done at cheaper rate.
Now Skin test result will come in 2 days. I can drop by on Thursday or Friday to know the result. If Skin test is positive then I/my wife both have to go for X-Ray which they charge $52 per person.
Overall it will cost me around $254(for my wife) and $354 for me to get this Medical paper signed and done. Hope above information will help others who are waiting to go for Medical examination.

You need to think of all ideas possible to get more people like you involved in this effort.

Very Very Very smart move. Can't believe they thought of it.
Here are my reasons:
1) this will be a massive revenue spinner for them.
2) It allows some clearing of backlogged 485s in the system and therefore visa number use.
3) There are a lot of petitions in the system at various stages, cleared labour, cleared 140 etc. Once all of these get to the 485 stage as they WILL DO by the end of July...............look how excited everyone is!!, they will be able to catalogue the pending 485 petitions by priority date and more reliably predict the demand and hence EB priority dates.
4) Sept. or Oct will lead to retrogression for EB India and China to the stone ages. Virtually guaranteed. From that point on, it will be strictly based on priority dates.
I must say this is a shrewd move to gauge real EB demand in the current EB morass. It now seems almost certain to me that the main reason they retrogressed so severely was to wait for the elimination of pending labours by the BECs. The next, upcoming round of retrogression however is likely to be more pernicious, a real and longer lasting problem absent visa numbers increases. So while we might be able to file 485s right away, getting them adjudicated will likely take forever.

Agreed... i do not have any knowledge and I am a pathetic looser..This thread was for writing any indeas comes to mind and brainstorm on it...So I wrote that..that's my personal thought and you have every right not to like it. Dont try to become an arm chair public policy expert. In these days of exaggerated media attention and spin, your half-baked 'idea' is doubly dangerous and will boomerang for all! Please stop trying to use those grey cells in an area outside your 'expertise'. Frankly, I am surprised that you would even qualify for a 'high skilled visa program' given the clear lack of context and critical thinking that you demonstrate.
This is not a personal tit for tat, rather a wake up call that half measures that might be 'brilliant within your mind' can be very counterproductive for the larger community.
I would strongly recommend a basic course in Logic & Reasoning apart from a primer in Media & Messaging before you attempt to pontificate from a position of sheer ignorance.
