1) 47000 (primary applicants or with the derivative applicants) ?
2) "Otherwise approvable" Does this mean that these cases have PDs prior to current cutoffs ? Or are they just saying that the application can be approved but have to wait for a visa number when the PD becomes current?

After this it will have another round of hearing on June 23rd . Which is Full Commitee. Which will makr up bill and if passes there it will send to clerk for scheduling to debate on house floor.
Before it reaches to house we need to make sure we call CHC members and other lawmakers to educate them before bill on floor.

Everybody (not just Perm) filers hate LS guys as they went ahead of line...
Backlog guys hate Perm filers as they went ahead of line... This is not true. How come PERM filers can go ahead in line.
Eb3 guys hate EB3-EB2 conversion guys as they went ahead of line...

In this forum Mr. Shusterman clarified that for layoffs before 180 days, the alien is protected for I-140 portablity, if the employer doesnot revoke it (which is my case).

We can get a employment verification letter. But now a days you need employment verification letter for many things. Just recently, jan 2009, I carried EVL for visa stamping. Now, my DL is expiring, should I ask them again for EVL. It has become more like HR nightmare for having a non-immigrants in the copany. These taylor made rules are not appropriate. When driving is a basic necassity, I could not comprahend why they need all additional documents. Any ways if this is true I have to ask my HR again to provide me one. Hope they do not get mad at me.
Can't agree more. This is nothing but harassment. What has drivers license got to do with employment or immigration status ?

It says otherwise approvable but for name check. Does that mean Visa numbers are already allotted for these 47K cases hence they wont eat up the visa numbers?

Goodness!! These entries are awesome, I envy you guys. It was hard to decide, but it came down to eilsoe's and soul's. Because, till 2005 there were extra 100,000 (total 242,000 were issued) recapturd numbers available. Therefore, no one cared (DOS/USCIS) about AC21 law that removes country quota. EB2 were curren for all then.

But not because they are 'Indian' but because they are run by sarkari babus. If anyone wants proof Govt. can't run things even remotely as efficiently as private corporations, this is that case study.
Have to give American consulates in India the credit that they have outsourced some job to external private companies.
At Indian consulate the story is quite different. There are many who share Pooja's feeling on this subject as being used to dealing with efficient private businesses in US, as soon as you enter the consulate, the sarkari inefficiency hits you like a ton of bricks. Every small screwup looks like a giant under our microscope and each further screwup just frustrates us exponentially.
As per my last visit to SF consulate, bracing for the worst, I got a surprise to find that it was a breeze, mostly because the lady at the counter was more compassionate and accommodating then the prior ones. But the failure is glaringly at the top level where they fail to define and refine the process, proof-read the information on website (list of document is vague and contains repetitions).
To summarize I think good workers can deliver some time, but the team will ultimately be a failure without good management at the top, and we all know the top management is sarkari babus who could care less as they were appointed from the sifarish of the Govt in New Delhi and not on their own merit.

Yes. misrepresentation is risky and dangerous and no one is asking you to do it. All I am saying is don't submit information that weren't asked and expose yourself. For example if you only need to w2s for 2006 and 2007, don't submit 2004 w2s when you were paid less etc. IOs make the decision with the information provided to them and issue RFE only if the info is not sufficient or require clarification. In fact this is what even UnitedNations wrote in other forms.. i.e. don't pro-actively submit extra documentation.
Coming to my wifes case, apparently, according to company records she was their employee since the start of H1B approval, but they were reluctant to put her on project and payroll with out SSN. When we mentioned this, the company owner was very cooperative and in fact ready to give us any letter we ask in case of an RFE or any time we request.
Btw, do you honestly think I (or my attorney/assistent who filled the entire application for us based on the documents 'he asked us to provide' - We just signed it) don't know what you were saying about mis-representation?? Remember, I didn't even know there may be problems with her 485 till I posted on this forum so no question of any deliberate mis-representation. Since our attorney asked for copy of every document 'specifically' as a bulleted list separately for both of us, we assumed that he would point out issues if there were any. :).

What I would worry about most is if any misrepresentation was made to USCIS as far as status goes. Years later or even during naturalization, one's could face audit and possible revocation of an approved application.

Reading the bulletin thread and prediction thread is good enough to prepare for GMAT problem solving area. I love these analysis and conclusions.
I only submitted my opinion based on facts (quarterly release of visa nos. by DOS is well known fact)......... :-))
