Just wondering, does the aluminum material prevent them from manufacturing white models? I prefer white over all the available colours, and it'll prolly go better with my MacBook.
I was wondering the same thing. A white aluminium one with a white clickwheel would look good, I think. The silver's almost there, but if it was just all white that would be great. It's going to be strange to have a white iBook, white leads, white mouse, and then an all-black iPod.
A rough and ready Photoshop job of a white one:

I think it would look very smart indeed.

they demanded that he cut the price of his vacuums by 30% and that he downgrades the build quality so they would break down more often thus forcing people to buy more
Wow. I always figured this was the stuff of conspiracy theorists and urban legends (e.g. "Who Killed the Electric Car" etc).
However, it would sure explain a lot of the crap that's out there in the markets these days. Flimsy plastic junk...

So what happens when the owner of the MacBook closes the computer?

The same guy I was talking too (at NextByte) told me that they had no Macbook deliveries for over a week, which they had never seen.
He also told me he'd heard that there will be a 15 inch MacBook Pro!!!
Well, don't believe him. The fact that there already is a 15" MBP should be evidence that Apple will never release a 15" MBP.

u must take really good care of yours. ive seen many people around campus whose iBooks have turned an odd shade of grey or brown...i guess dirt gets caught in the scratches
Not really. I mean, I do wash the casing every once in a while, but I'm not obsessive over it. It's a computer, and it'll look however it does after the use I put it through.

Ridiculous that Apple would let this story post and NOT have it's site already configured to handle the inquries.

If I want a touchscreen based computer, I buy a iPad.
I can't imagine that you can work very productive if you must/can
switch from Mac OS X to iOS and vise versa in iMac.
It is important that Apple produce iMacs with a quad and hexacore processors (also for smaller displays)
and faster graphic cards build in. It is okay, that Apple has a (one!) slow and very energy efficient iMac in portfolio for classical office environment.
All other competitors has faster computers in the portfolio, so why not Apple?
The Mac Pro is not a solution for that issue (XEON processor, price, other application area).
iMac for rendering purposes and games today? Not really.
What is with USB 3.0 and SSDs in iMac? It is time Apple...

Like the apple store?
Lol, Joking....The Apple store, while certainly a "neat" place, has never been an all-around pleasant experience for me. The place is constantly packed to the brim with people just gawking and getting whatever they just picked up at the food court thoroughly smeared all over everything while they check facebook.
not liking the apple store much either anymore. too many people.

Back in the final days of Logic Pro 7 I was considering buying it. It was incredibly powerful but really deep and with a clunky GUI to boot. My procrastination paid off.
Within months Logic Pro 8 came out and they simplified the GUI to be like GarageBand (and oh how all the "Pros" did moan...but only for awhile) and cut the price from $999 to $499. I jumped on it and never looked back.
And now the same sort of thing is happening to FCP. All the power (fingers crossed) but with a much better GUI (yes, sort of like iMovie but only on the surface....just like with Logic Pro and Garageband).
Jumping into this will be a no-brainer for me whereas with the old FCP I would have never "bit".
Give the "Pros" time to come around. A lot of the resistance evaporates over time. Yes, there are actually some people who like difficult programs because then they join the "priesthood" of "those in the know" and get all puffed up.
"BUT BUT BUT...IT LOOKS...DIFFERENT!!!!"
I WON'T BUY IT....I WON'T BUY IT....I WON'T I WON'T I WON'T.

I reduced military spending to $90B and increased Vets' aftercare, too. Major gain came from removing the cap on SS contributions completely.
Yeah did that too. I had a huge surplus before I started increasing spending on infrastructure, education, social programs and alternative energy. Priorities, priorities.

an established global business like Facebook
that f_ing breaks their sh_t every other day.
Seriously, facebook is constantly screwing stuff up. I HATE that all my damn friends use it so I am FORCED to use it to communicate with them only because to most of them anymore facebook=internet.
facebook can't even get chronological order right...

* An unconfirmed forum post claims (http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.php?t=304580) that the Mac Pro CPUs are swappable.
Intel price for 2.66 GHz woodcrest is $690, 3.00 is $851, and you need two of them. Instead of upgrading, you might as well buy another Mac Pro.

The iPod will sell- but the music- most people who like the Beatles already have the music- it's if they can be bothered paying again with the DRM involved.

And you and people like you represent how much of the population?
What's that got to do with your absurd and paper-thin point? That Macs weren't for work? I represent no-one except myself and never claimed to...
Besides, since when did a majority choice signify anything of value? More people drink Coke instead of Champagne. More drive Fords than BMWs. More like 50 Cent than Mozart...
When billion-dollar publishing and media concerns depend on their Macs, in my view that trumps anybody at home playing Solitaire on their Windows boxes.

my battery is one of the one's that needs replaced, but the website won't take the serial number (verified by someone at apple) and tech support is clogged for the day, so hopefully sometime later this week i can get a battery sent to me. anyway, if anyone else goes there and has the 5 digit number in the range but it won't take your serial number be sure to call apple because it could be a website error.

Ever since the iPhone came out Apple has been trying to get Adobe to write a more streamlined mobile flash player. one that:
1) won't crash and possibly make the phone reboot
2) won't drain the battery too much
3) won't tax the processor so much that it creates a heat problem
4) is secure enough to keep malicious code from running on your phone.
For whatever reason Adobe has been unable or unwilling to do this. So, Yes Apple has created restrictions, but very necessary ones. Anything less would be bad for the end user and for Apple's reputation.
I paid for my iPhone, not apple.... How about apple let me make the choice if I want flash to run on my phone or not.

I updated the wife's room a bit. Cinema Display against the wall.
Very nice with the Cinema Display on the wall. Great family photo as well; my family pictures are always awful. :)
