First of all lets get a few thousand members to attend. The rest can wait. I had started a thread for contributions. It has been having the least possible activity.
IV has become a site for water-cooler discussions about mundane issues. I wish we remained focused on the reason this site was founded , instead of degenerating into an forum to discuss mundane issues.
I think we need better plan for fund requirement. How much is needed and where to be spent. This will give us better idea.
I agree with you on that, lets try to collect some money from the people who work and own BPO projects.
A lot if Indians are working in the IT sector, I believe we should get in touch with them
There are soo many IT companies in VA and DC, lets try to contact them, I am sure some Desi employers will work with us.

When will uscis release visa allocated by country for the fiscal year 2009? . In 2008 india eb2 got 15000 visas, if the same trend continues first 15000 in queue for eb2 should get approved this year

For example, I have an MBA from a top 5 B-school and work in marketing/ strategy consulting.

Thanks invincibleasian and macaca. I am working as a contractor. So I cannot stick to one place as I need to move to places where ever I get the project. I see the only option for me is to do the online MS.
1) Does any one knows the list of universities which allows to do online MS?
2) I am B.com graduate (Bachelor of Commerce, whis is 3 years degree) and done LLb (Bachelor of Law which is 3 years degree). Will it fulfill the eligibility requirments of 16 years education in order to do MS?

BCom + LLB is fine >= 4 years of Degree so there should be no problem.

Now the research is out of the way, let me tell you what I did.
I could not get Dr. appointment before July 2nd week in my area. I have to drive 100 miles. So to reduce one trip, I took the vaccinations from my local county health department.
I am not concerned about "what if" situations of 2nd shots as I can convince the Doctor, if need be :)
For the wife, it's a different story. Trying to get a Vaccination attestation from Doctor in India. If not, use the waiver.

Very first think comes to my mind is why are you guys coming to US if you feel India is better. Have you seen anyone from US going to India and taking up jobs. Again dont get me some exceptions from here and there.
1. US is lot better than India. Only thing lacking here is our culture / parents/ siblings which are invaluable.
2. World economy is dependent on US economy and it will be the case for next 100 years. So you are better off here.
3. You all guys talk these crap since you do not have GC. Imagine, there was not VISA problem here in US and everyone here gets GC in 6months easily, do you think our peers in this forum would be saying that they are ready to go back to India/home country. I DONT THINK SO.
Everyone wants to be here whether he accepts it or not. Only the frustration with getting GC makes him/her think in 100 different options. But the reality never changes. Every tom dick and harry from every nook and corner of the world wants to come to US because this is the land of oppourtunity and luxury.

I think many of us have this decision to make - is it worth waiting years on an elusive GC or is it time to head back home ( if u are from a place like India where there is a job boom going on presently, it may make a lot of sense).
How do we know that our current frustrations will be justified down the road? What makes us so sure that we will have a better life here? Once the 11 million illegals have been assimilated and all the high tech and manufacturing jobs have been outsourced, what will be left here? Isn't it better to get back now and try to benefit from the boom rather than miss the opportunity back home?
Hard questions with no easy answers. At least, when retrogression hit the last time in the 90s the decision was more clear - you just grit your teeth and wait your turn for GC.
This time, it is not so clear as we are constantly wondering whether waiting is in our best long-term interest!
Personally, I will wait 3 more years while I fine tune plans b and c to be implemented after that if GC remains elusive. Good luck to everyone!

I am ready to contribute.
How about setting up a Google Adwords campaign with keywords specific to h1b and employment based green card to increase immigrant community awareness. The campaign would run only this month and would target those who have the greatest interest in this bill being passed. Those who click on the ad would be directed to page explaining our efforts and urging people to call their senators.
We could set up a donation fund specifically to pay for the ads for one month and could publicly show on the site who has paid and reports from the campaign showing exactly how much was spent for advertising. This would ensure that money is going directly to this campaign. If each of us donate few bucks it would be sufficient to run such a campaign.
If the site owners would support this idea, I would be glad to help in this effort.

I would think Graduate Schools are a very good source. Several of us here have done our Masters/Bachelors from US graduate schools. Most of these universities have Foreign Culture Associations. These associations are a very important part of keeping a cultural balance.
It could be a good source for gaining membership as well as a sincere voice for IV. These student bodies are a genuine representation that live by the law, work by the law while they struggle their way up by being responsible to become the future of any country...

my company's lawyer will be swamped with new I-485 applications, since everyone eligible is already sending applications.
I am in the process of preparing 2 packets so that if he delays I can file by myself before retrogression hits again.
Now, my question is: Can I attach a courtesy copy of already approved I-140 when filing I-485? Also I do not have A#!!! I guess that is not all that important, since when my I-140 was processed there was retrogression.
Word of caution for everyone: On June 16th USCIS published new memo overriding Yates memo, basically saying that they will have a descretionally right to either issue RFE with less than 120 days for response and/ or deny and reject cases where initial evidence is missing. So, carefully prepare all your applications...check all docs and files, money orders, filing fees, etc etc...
I filed my AOS at the beginning of May and included a copy of the I140 approval notice. My A# was on my approval notice fortunately. I carefully put my packet of application together according to my employers instructions so this memo is not much use to me right now. However, am hopeful it all works out since we have already had fingerprints done within a month of application. I believe that if they simply deny all applications if initial evidence is missing, however, that chaos would ensue and they would be bombarded with appeals. Not good for anyone involved.

We are discussing pros & cons of returning back to one's home country & one of the factors to be considered is upward career mobility which can get restricted in the US due to our skin color.
