I am not sure why so many people so naively jump to the defence of India without looking at the context in which things are said.
Most Indians love India and that includes most NRIs. If there was any doubt just look at the support the NRI PAC gave in pushing the nuclear deal.
The main point here is that this thread was started on the premise that the negotiation of this deal to transfer social security payments was somehow good news for our money. I think one can disagree with this and still love India.
Frankly, if my choice was between foregoing the money here and that money going for something good such as infrastructure development in India, I and I am sure most Indians here will happily sign off on those funds.
Point however is I do not see it as good news for our social security money.

The backlog of visa applications is a significant issue. It has been written about previously, and the USCIS has faced a good deal of criticism over it. because of the abuse of H1 & L1 by these companies, people who have actual job offers in U.S are not able to apply for H1b. These companies do a kind of visa gouging wherein, they get H1b approved and stamped for all the people they have on payroll in their offshore centers whether they are needed here or not and then, send them when they projects. This is nothing but visa gouging by this companies and abuse of the intent of H1 & L1. Although the bill has gone too far and tried to penalize everybody but instead it should look at stopping the visa gouging

Reality is DREAM act is directly connected to HISPANIC votes for Democrats, EB community doesnt have any VOTING rights, neither they get any support from the folks who are already GC/UScitizenship holders.
Once people are out of this GC mess, they all start talking about anti immigration and that's the reality, u go to any indian community around and see how much support you have from those folks who have GC/US citizenship.
That brings a new point for IV leadership. hey Dhundhun and everybody else.... thanks for ur precious advice. This forum is really helpful for people like me who do not have much experience with US rules.
Dhundhun, to answer your question...no I do not intend to break the contract. I just want to protect myself from any mishap in future. By the way as I mentioned earlier, the contract is not of 12 months....its for ENDLESS time. It says that if I leave the company anytime...I will need to refund all the training costs that the company would of incurred in last 12 months.

Well said Janilsal. I wish we could improve the atmosphere here in IV. Less bickering, insulting and abusing each other, and more cooperative effort and sharing of knowledge to help each other. We might even increase our membership. I know a few people who stay away from IV because of all the insults and abuses that are posted.

Look at it this way -- An additional quota means more regular EB visa's to go around which will help all. Asking to give 20k more GC's for US Graduates will sound more easy on the ears than asking for a general 20k increase.

Thanks. she is still working for the same employer who sponsored her H1. Now, she needs to continue maintaining relation and continue working for them.
I am still worried though.. I read in this and other forums that USCIS may issue RFE asking for proof and if says medical leave, then asking for medical records etc.. So, better to prepare for some 'solid' answer with out any loopholes by being honest. I do not think lying would help and may lead to more troubles.
It means, if at all they have any doubts, they may issue RFE, but if you have a good relationship in responding to those RFEs using company letters etc, there is no problem. Good relation means, employer has to suppprt you always in case of any RFE, thats it. He needs stand on your side. Then there is no problem. But if he won't stand on your side, then it is a problem. So, thats why relation with employer is very important when on H1 or EB.

It looks like NSC has slowed down a bit on EAD processing. I am seeing many posts where folks e-filed their EAD renewals in the 1st week of July 2008 and are still waiting for the FP appointments notice.

But, Mpadapa has some reality. That's what we are seeing in last 3 - 4 bulletins. A slow but steady movement.
Atleast with current movement we can plan in what period we can expect our case will clear.
But brother, there has been no movement in EB3, so based on what will we predict when our case will be clear...........

I just got my EAD yesterday (with 1 year validity even though PD is not current). My company lawyer will contact USCIS about this, will update once I have any info.
Received only one year EAD .I will have to call USCIS for incorrect validity date of issued EAD.
