When money is in excess of $10,000, there are several applicable rules.
~ It must be reported to treasury, it transfer in a year is more than $10,000.
~ It must be reported to treasury, at any time foreign bank account had money in excess of $10,000.
And of course:
~ Interest in foreign banks and earning in foreign stocks must be reported as income on US returns (any world-wide income).
There are many violations, and perhaps IRS is unable to chase defaulters. People enjoy defaulting and not reporting.

TV25, Ron Gotcher is a good attorney and this is his web site http://www.imminfo.com/...I don't know him personally but, he is an American and he replies to most of the queries in his forum, and with very good explanation. Ask him...that's my suggestion...

Maybe I am missing something here but the green card for this beneficiary was started in 2005. The PD of 2000 is due to a labor-substitution. Aren't those the facts here?
I was referring to the whole inefficient, time consuming immigration process. One does not know how long folks who missed the AUG 17 date have to wait!!

I am on the same boat. My 485 was approved on 8/6 but no card yet. I have opened an SR. My approval notice says that I should receive my card within 3 weeks but the automated message at USCIS as well as the customer rep there says that I should wait for 60 days. I insisted on opening the SR since the approval notice clearly says I need to contact USCIS if I did not have my card within 3 weeks. I was told that I would get a response within 30 days for my SR.

I have two passports one with H4 Visa stamped and another Surname changed. While entering US, I have used my name as in the Visa (new surname) in the I-94 card.
I have applied for H1B with new surname in this May and change of Status with that I-94.
During H1 processing, I have travelled out of US and while entering back I have used old surname( as sometime back DMV ppl told that the name on I-94 should match with H4 Visa)
Now I got H1 approval and COS approval with my middle name taken as first name and new surname.
1) First thing is, the I-94 on COS approval and I-94, currently present in my Passport does not match.
2) First name and middle name are interchanged in the passport and H1 approval.
Is this going to create any problem while applying SSN? What are the possible consequences..
Also, any similar scenarios, plz respond..
oh boy this really tikkles my funny bone,

What is the normal time frame for receiving AP papers?
My wife's AP papers were mailed on 17th Sep but we are still waiting for them.
Are they sent to applicants home or attorney's office?
Thanks in advance.
485_spouse
If your attorney had filled A G28 right. He will get them. Ususally they come in 3 days or so after they said they mailed it.

When I check onlin Status of my AP, I see it says "The document has been mailed on Sep 10th". In reality, I got the AP in mail on Sep 19th. The envelope was postmarked on Sep 17th.
My understanding is that the approved documents go to the mail room. It may wait in the mailroom till someone puts it in an envelope and add postage on it. I guess they are mailing thousands of envelopes everyday, so it may take some time at the mailing room.

I am a GC holder now and there are many people like me who are also would like to continue to contribute some money from time to time. I will get in touch with all my friends to contribute something even after GC to fight this noble cause.
Thanks

The name check takes 2 years anyway, making a mockery of fast processing times. Even VSC, which is the slowest, takes less than 2 yrs for 485.
Wait a minute; I thought the name check is part of the I485 approval (and for those who file I-140 and I-485 concurrently, part of the I-140 approval). It wouldn't make any sense if the I-485 is approved and they are still checking the identity.
Also, the thread has been quiet due to lack of hope regarding the speed of processing centers (Wata, I am with you on the Nebraska one) and the unreliability of promises for improvements.
No; the 485 approval and name check are two different things. Even after 485 is approved and your PD is current, you don't get the GC until the name check is cleared.

1) You do not need one, unless you have no clue about any immigration system or have excess of 1000$
2) around 1000$
3) cic.gc.ca is a good place to start with keeping consultants aside.
There are threads that discussed this extensively before. Check them out.

I think immigration voice should ensure that concurrent filing of I-140 and I-485 is removed.
