I just got back from a lengthy fight with my local and state DMV offices to convince them I'm legal to continue having a drivers license. I'm EB, in the adjustment of status stage since July 2007. DMV asked me recently for proof for status check. I took the pending I-485 receipt and while they told me it is an acceptable proof, they said they have a rule that if the document has no expiration date, they can only give you a driver license with validity 6 months beyond the receipt date of your document (with the wild assumption that any I-485 application is approved or denied within 6 months)
I have nothing against local government and their agencies enforcing immigration, but if you won't give your staff the necessary training to comprehend what legal immigration status is then it will be a disaster

I understand that there is lot of fear among applicants that USCIS might retrogress the dates interimly sometime in july due to the expected high volume of applications filing in the begining of july.
To minimize the chance of USCIS from taking any such steps, shall we all unite and file the applications on a specific date in july probably on 30th of july? This will accomodate all applicants...so that we shall all be winners and use this opportunity to our advantage instead of competing amongst each other...where only a few will be winners and others will be loosers.
This will also reduce the pressure among applicants , attorneys and doctors.
Can the AILA cooperate? Will there be unity amongst applicants to make this possible??? any ideas ??

Ok, I've seen a lot of threads about go to the rally, actions items, I've reading a lot of guys saying dont ask for your receipt status, dont waste your time etc, etc.
What, are you 4 yrs. old man? If one works sincerely towards the cause, then he will realize the answer themselves, please try & think about that. Please help us work towards the goal. Nothing happens overnight, hope you are old & experienced enough to realize that or you must be an armchair quarterback. Please listen to "Time" by Pink Floyd & get your priorities straight.

Please send the letter to WH if not already. As lasantha said, filing for I-485 when PD is not current is something IV is taking up with the administration. But, we need to get more letters to support our argument that this systemic dysfunction at USCIS is widespread and is affecting tens of thousands of people and not just a mere 1200 (that is the letters total so far and 10% of that comes from needhelp's efforts:))

Not a fan of AZ law, but I'm delighted that it has pushed immigration issue to the forefront, forced federal govt's hand and jolted it out of its inaction. Many a battles will be won/lost over immigration in Nov 2010 elections.

Hi All FP seekers! I do not know what exactly I am missing if there is a delay in FP. It looks like hundreds of IV members are too much worried because of the 'delay' in FP. Let me worry too (by knowing the big problem!). Can any worriers explain??
On the other hand is it not better to have a late FP, so that you need not go again in the next 15 months! Anyway for most people GC is going to take years!
It's the uncertainty of the entire process that kills us...Have seen couple of users whose cases have been erroneoulsy denied since they did not went for their biometrics. Guess what, these users never received any FP notice from USCIS. I tend to partially agree with you; if the PD is no where close to being current, why worry about FP now - it's their responsibility to get us finger printed. But on the other hand, I do not want my case to be erroneously denied because of an error in their processing...
This is just my personal opinion. I am not loosing my sleep over this any more.

I agree with you. I had also brought to the attention of the moderators about the restraint they need to exercise while closing threads.
Let people discuss about the visa movement dates as long as it doesn't harm/hurt others. Discussing/predicting visa dates is not against the wishes of the larger immigrant community as long as anti-social acts like betting is involved.
I again request the moderators to exercise their power with proper reasoning. If 1000 people wants a thread closed, it is not a proper reason for closing it.

My spouse and I filed 2 AOS applications, with each being primary and dependent to each other.
Total cost for Medicals -> $610
Attorney fees for the spouse thru husband's company -> $800
Attorney fees for the spouse through my company -> $3500
Photographs/Travel/Photocopies -> $300
Application fees thru husband's company-> $1450
Application fees thru my company-> $790
Total -> $7450 :-(

If I file AC-21 Memo to USCIS and I got laid off from my previous job 14 days prior to 180days and started the new job 14 days prior to 180days and the petitioner employer will not revoke I-140, will that cause any issue?
Do i have to show to USCIS that I started my new job after 180 days?
That will be a big issue. You do have to show that I-485 has been pending for 180 days before you changed jobs.

We can demand a purple card for any techworker who had worked and paid taxes and contributed to Social Security and medicare for three continuous years. This card should allow free travel and work permit for spouse. Counterpart of blue card for illegals......Once the priority date becomes current and adjustment of status is complete, purple card is replaced by green card !!!!!!!!

No RFE in our case. Just a soft LUD on 02/10 on both of our 485's. I had LUD on my AP thats yet to be approved, though my wife has not applied for any AP> Wondering if they just cross checking 485s for AP approval. And no, mine is not transfered case. Its always been at NSC.

This is true and the only one working actively working for our cause. If this organization is not succeeding to its full potential, its only because high skilled immigrants did not support it to the extent they could. Everyone wants to know what IV acheived - with $175???

I think most of the money comes from businesses that employ these people to cut costs. We don't have any such resource. So I don't think IV not getting enough donations can be blamed on IV users.
I have donated as much as I can without getting my budget in jeopardy with all the mortgage , taxes, "health insurance " .medicare, car payments etc etc that we have to deal with.
Another point I think is that even if IV had a couple of million dollars I don't think it will be able to pursuade the Congress to pass any legislation to bring relief to legal immigrants considering the mood of the people in the Congress . No one would like to hurt their political career with voting for us in the Congress. The politicians do only lip service whether for illegal or legal immigrant bills. They have zero interest in seeing them passed in the Congress.

I think we need an IV movement to fix the Indian Consulates - They are absolutely pathetic - Lets get our house in order before we try to fix the USCIS !!! Does anybody know what is the email address for Meera Shankar - Indian Ambassador to US. We need to bombard her with emails about how badly the Indian consulates in the US are run.
