It's not about showing resentment. Being able to protest is a fundamental right in a democracy, unlike a dictatorship which essentially the LTTE is. We do that everyday in India, America and other democratic setups. It's quite clear that you don't understand the basic concept of a pluralistic democracy that India and America stand for. Lets be clear that we are talking about people who are employed in the US and their employers have sponsored their green cards (except the EB2-NIW, EB1_EA). These people are employed because of their skill at jobs not their national origin.
Are you suggesting that somehow people of some countries have monopolized the foreign worker pool by born in the same country and NOT because of their skill.
Since we are talking about a privilege and benefit that comes from being employed in the US, you are actually suggesting that US employers should consider country of birth and not just skill in the employment.
Tell me how did the Chinese, Indian, Mexican and Filipino workers unfairly monopolized the foreign worker pool. As far as I am aware, these countries have large populations and a lot of Science and Engineering graduates happen to be from these countries.
The country cap makes sense in family based immigration system when extended beyond the immediate family members. IV is not for FB GC issues.

You are welcome Dyana. Also if you search this forum, you might be able to find lots of threads on filing 485, doing medicals etc from last June/July/August. These topics were beaten to death on this forum last year when a whole bunch of us filed 485. Good luck!

This new rule of USCIS, effects every one. In one way or the other. if the rule is enforced strictly
1)The unemployment increases (Paralegal staff, lot of americans working for consulting companies(IBM, TEK systems, accenture etc.., Immigration Lawyers, uscis personel, staff.. You name it)
2)It effects Greencard holders or EAD holders not directly but in one or two years because outsourcing increases.
3)F1 students mainly (man how are these guys going to survive if consulting companies cant apply for them)

The biggest loss is the trust, coz, next time people will not believe these mid month bulletins at all as they can come around anytime and revise the dates. So, applicants will always have to live in fear untill they receive the receipt.

Why should we give big bucks to big names? Instead we can pay 50% to 75% of that to a bunch of fresh law school grads from Harvard or some other top law school and see what they can do?
This way we would help young talent and also give them a platform to get their name in the front and at the same time we are not under cutting on their fees. Saving money but cutting unnecessary cost is the name of the game.

So hardly EB2 India moved forward about 6 months to 9 months in the duration of 2008 and 2009 with the help of spill overs. That too in this bad economy where there would be comparatively less labors applied than the previous years.

In 2009 CIS has many EB2-ROW application pending, and they have processed most of them by now(in 2009). So for 2010, unless they see flood of new applications (from EB2 ROW) we will see EB2-India pass 2005 PD in 2010.

1. How hard/easy is it to get TN visa? Is it restricted only to specialized professions like H1 or can ppl with general office (HR/marketing) etc also get TN visa?
2. Can spouse work or is it same state as H4?
3. How hard/easy is it to switch jobs?
4. What does it take to apply for green card while on TN (without switching to H status)
5. Anyone tried L1 route from Canada to US?
Basically, my question is it worth the trouble trying to get a GC if you are a canadian citizen?

I don't think waiting for GC will be such a big problem if we can get relief from Government related to flexibility in job change (just like after getting GC), option to opt for FT school, etc... We can request immediate relief to GC community that if their I-485 is pending for more than 2 years (say), they should be granted a temp. intermediate status which should allow them to change jobs which are not neccessarily similar or on same payscale, flexibility to opt as FT student if they want to..... If we get this flexibility, I don't think waiting for GC is going to hurt so much. We have tried so much to get the GC quota increased but nothing has worked. May be we should focus on small things like this first. Just thinking aloud.

LTTE deserves no sympathy. Innocent civilians dying in war zone should get protection anywhere in the world. Its sad how so many people are viewing this with their political goggles on blaming one party or another. Any war zone is bad for civilians whether it is Sri Lanka or Kosovo or Darfur. Civilians need protection.
People who are solely attributing Sri Lankan conflict to Singhalese oppression are also distorting history. LTTE has many opportunities to get a peaceful resolution and it ditched it every time. They have been ruthless with Tamils who opposed them. They were merciless with Tamils who joined the mainstream and looked for a peaceful solution. LTTE became weak when Karuna joined mainstream and took away all his fighters.
And for those who are saying Gandhi is no longer relevant, are forgetting the flowers campaign with IV
