Yes I know the current one is selling like crazy, but that only reinforces the fact that Joe Average will buy anything Apple.

I never thought I will hear that about this Mac company ;) What a difference a few years make!!

Android Phone Specs are out pacing the Iphone. An 8 Megapixel camera, bigger screen and more memory will keep me buying. IOS 5 with the rumored adobe flash would be great too.

Glad to see more retailers get the iPad 2 in stock...that said, I wish Apple would take shipping times down for the good folks who have been waiting for several weeks

I'd take photos with an iPad. Those naysayers are ridiculous. Sure, it's not a device I'd use for frivolous photography on the fly, but it would be fine for capturing photos and videos. The iPad is still the best all-in-one video/photo/editor because of screen size.

This is the most simplistic statement.

A crap camera will never take a great picture, despite the hands it is in. It might take something vaguely enigmatic on some level, but with bad lens, inability to capture colors, or faulty mechanics/electronic, it will be nothing more than a crippling piece of equipment.

A good photographer can frame, layer, focus the subject, and compose well. Yes, you don't need a "good" camera for those qualities, but you need a well-creafted camera to back up and improve on the photographer's skills.

I think when you consider what a good photographer can do with Aperture, it might make more sense to you.

Does your screw stick out a little bit or is it leveled with the plastic?

It's level in the plastic, and dead center, so it's really hardly noticeable. Not sure why they had to do that though, you'd think they could fasten it the same way they do the old heatsink. Of course, I don't know much about heatsink placement and MB mobo's, so I should just keep my mouth shut I guess.

i don't mind an integrated graphics card, all I want is a better integrated graphics card, the best that intel can offer.

Unfortunately, that's currently the GMA950 that's already in the Macbook. :(

The wait for this revision back to a superior casing and finish, coupled with vibrant color choices, was clearly worthwhile. Love 'em all!

    Definitely! I'm glad I waited.

If Apple was rejecting applications because they use private APIs, then that's just the sort of thing Hewitt was complaining about in the first place. He wants a "free and open" programming environment, with nobody saying "Hey, you can't put this on our platform unless you code it THIS way!"

Honestly, I think there needs to be a "middle ground" here. I don't see Apple EVER doing things the way Hewitt wants them done. This isn't the world wide web, where essentially, "anything goes" and your content gets viewed on all manner of devices and browsers. This is a proprietary, commercial device, marketed by a company that places a lot of value on being able to control all aspects of the products they sell (from the "opening the box" experience to the software, to the customer service experience years after the sale).

That said, the *review process* itself needs major revamping! Most iPhone developers aren't screaming about wanting everything totally "free and open". They're simply saying, "Hey Apple! If you're going to reject my app or an update to it, be PROMPT about it, and give me DETAILS on exactly what I can change to make it acceptable to you!" Truthfully, with as many apps as are being submitted these days, Apple will probably need to streamline the process. Stop manually reviewing each and every submission. Instead, do some automated code review to make sure certain "off limits" things aren't in the code, and then default to accepting the app. Provide an easy way for people to "flag" an app in the store though, so live humans can review it as requested for violations, and remove it if needed.

Reading some of the posts about this on Twitter, it may (or may not be) about the Three20 project (Objective C library for developing iPhone apps) that was developed by Hewitt. It apparently was using private APIs and may have been getting other people's apps, who were using the code, rejected. Conceivably, the Facebook app could have been using the same private API calls and was continually getting rejected. Supposedly, Apple has some new way to check out if you're using these APIs. Hewitt may have just got fed up with the situation and decided to quit.

So... do these c2d mbs run cooler? The old cd mbs ran hot under Parallels.

But does the 1GB use one memory slot or two?Knowing Apple, most likely both slots are taken up. It's typical Apple.

I think you're over analyzing this situation. It is one that is purely BUSINESS.

Intel has AMD as direct competition, causing a "space race" sort of 'speed race', they keep topping eachother in speed and proccesses. Both are forced to innovate to remain competitive; and even in the PC world, it is a hard choice whether to choose Intel or AMD for your processor.

With Apple as their primary and only customer for the Mac specific chip, Motorolla has no need to innovate, there is no fire under ass, so to speak.

Basically, they don't care because they don't have to. And it is not Apple's "fault", but rather a credit that they have standerdized on one processor; but that is a convenience and a privelage for Apple, only because there is no other maker at the moment. I'm sure if there was, there would be court cases similar to Microsoft is in about anti-competiveness of Motorolla :P.

Motorolla has a pure monopoly on a private platform; if Apple were still licensing, and you could buy Umax, SuperMac and other Mac Clones, I'm 100% positive There'd be 4Ghz Macs by now, because those companies would strive to compete with Apple.

If you have shared responsibilities e.g. to send the kids to school (not realy cheap where I am), which takes a consierablen slap out of the salary, certain purchases might not be considered really important/essential for the family's well-being by the significant other (compared to lets sayspending the money for new clothes for the kid or a family trip). I still do it but tell her after the fact with a good justification (if possible). Works most of the time (and I am screwed if it doesn't).

I take it you are not married or in a serious long term relationship...?

Here we go with the "You said this, so you must be this..." stereotype...

I know guys where even though they are the "bread winner" or contribute greatly to the funds, they have to approve EVERYTHING through the Wife - whereas the Wife can spend as she pleases....

    Happy Wife, Happy Life...

Not into that type of relationship.

^ Uhm. Popularity does not imply quality.
Neither does obscurity. However, success in the music industry is generally measured by how many people like a musician's work. Ask any musician whether they'd rather create music that appeals to 4 people, or 40,000,000 people. Your individual lack of appreciation of The Beatles doesn't diminish their success, collectively and individually. To discount their accomplishments and influence is to display monumental naivet.

I hope they brighten the interface a bit. I find it too dark. Also i hope some of the buttons become drop down buttons. It looks way more cluttered then FCP7.

all the improvements i have seen are major approvements. Even though this is an early demo. bravo, apple.

edit: or give us the advanced and regular version UI ;) all buttons that have shortcuts i dont see need for in the UI for an everyday user like me.
